Section 001: Mind the Grid | 2018

In the spring of 2018, Section 001 was given the massive task of reimagining the Creative Workspace of the [Near] Future. With DAAP’s 6450 as our site, our students went to work researching the use of the space, the start of the art in workplace solutions, and the opportunities that may be afforded by such a large space with so many users.

Guided by their thorough research, the students went on to design a full suite of innovative furnishings to meet the demands of the users and of the space. The work was prototyped in partnership with Versteel, and is still being tested in the Myron E Ullman, Jr. School of Design’s graduate studios.

Contributors included myself, Stephen Slaughter, and Gjoko Muratovski as an advisor. The incredible student team was made up of Adriana Noritz, Ally Berry, Austin Gehman, Autumn Lowder, Ben Blake, Cambrie Barowski, David Miller, Dianna Meek, Dylan Stein, Ellen Posch, Emily Sabol, Evan Shaw, Gabe West, Gabe Biolos, Gabrielle Stichweh, Grant Wilson, Jasper Cohen, Katie Spang, Kendall Toerner, Luke Weaver, Matt Kramer, Megan Shaffer, Michael Rice, Monica Ruma, Nick Mason, Seher Hashmi, Shaun Baranyi.
